Sonic Shoreline

Sonic Shoreline

Sonic Shoreline is a community-led practice of listening to the Bronx waterfront and answering it. At Pugsley Creek, at Castle Hill, along Soundview and Clason Point, neighbors gather to tend the shore, to make sound and art in its presence, and to learn what it has to teach.

Water

We kneel in the reeds and take out what was thrown there. It is not glamorous. It is how love behaves when no one is watching. One Saturday morning each month we return to Pugsley Creek, beginning October 24, 2026.

Sound

Then we play. Not over the water but with it. The creek keeps the tempo, and we come in where there is room. Live sound and original music, made for this shoreline and played beside it.

Art

We paint and write out of doors, every age together, with the tide for a witness.

Healing

And then we do nothing at all. We sit where the land ends and let the water do what it has always done to the tired.

Hear the creek

Pugsley Creek, recorded at the tide line. Press play. Stay a moment.

We have come back for the water. We have come back for the shore our grandmothers knew, and we do not intend to leave it again.
